An exhibition from Christine Dixie
1 – 4 November, 3pm – 7.30pm
Free entry
South African artist Christine Dixie engages with Velasquez’s iconic 17th century painting Las Meninas through the lens of Foucault’s 1966 essay ‘Las Meninas’. Her radical re-visioning offers insights into contemporary social and psychological power structures.
Dixie’s multi-media installation re-stages the painting in dialogue with the postcolonial space of the Eastern Cape landscape to question accepted conventions of power and perspective.
