Kentaro Kobayashi

Kentaro is a Japanese comedian, playwright and performing artist whose works are known not only as comedy acts but as a form of art. He was born in 1973 and brought up in Yokohama, Japan. After graduating from art university, he has been active on stage with his comedy acts, straight plays and solo performances. His plays have won top awards in Japanese theatre magazines. He starred in the ‘Get a Mac’ campaign CM of Apple as ‘Mac’. Also, his short film series ‘The Japanese Tradition’, with the film-making company Namikibashi, have won a number of awards in short film festivals both in and outside of Japan.

In 2012, he toured in France with his Solo Performance, P, which was extremely popular both in Paris and Monaco. In 2015, Mr Potsunen’s Peculiar Slice of Life came back to Europe enjoying great success in Paris and London.

NHK BS ‘The Art of Laughter: Kentaro Kabayashi’s World’ has won the Creative Excellence Award (Entertainment/TV Performing Arts category) in the US International Film & Video Festival.
