Journey Eastward in the final Sunday evening concert from Octandre Ensemble’s series, Composer Portraits. Octandre Ensemble presents Rolf Hind, who will introduce his work in a pre-concert interview on Sunday 30th September. Listen to some extraordinary talent – and join the musicians for a drink in the bar afterwards.

Rolf Hind

Rolf Hind’s music engages with the East, and above all India, with oblique and surprising approaches to its language, philosophy and culture, from the tender and meditative to the violent and comic. Recent works include his 2017 HCMF commission On what weft are woven the waters and his mindfulness opera Lost in Thought (2015). In this portrait, we present the first ever full-length performance of Way out East – a set of three chamber pieces for the stage, featuring mezzo Lore Lixenberg .
